Resin Patio Surfacing in Ashbourne
Resin bound surfacing creates smooth, permeable surfaces that suit patios and pathways particularly well. The finished result is hard wearing and low maintenance, and it comes in a wide choice of aggregate colours to complement different properties.
Our resin specialists have completed hundreds of resin surfaced patios, and we can tailor any patio area to your requirements in Ashbourne, giving you complete peace of mind from start to finish.
What Is Resin Surfacing?
We blend natural aggregates, typically stone ranging from 2 to 6mm, with clear polyurethane resin, then trowel the mixture onto a carefully prepared base. Once cured, the result is a solid surface where the individual stones remain visible but are securely locked together. This creates an attractive, textured finish that feels comfortable underfoot.
A resin bound system is permeable, so water drains straight through rather than sitting on top. This is important for drainage regulations as well as everyday use, because you will not be left with standing water after rain.
New Resin Patio Installations
For new patios, we begin by installing a porous concrete base. This provides the stable foundation that resin needs, while keeping the whole construction permeable. The concrete must cure fully before we apply the resin, as rushing this stage can lead to problems later on.
The depth depends on how the area will be used. Patios typically need 100mm of porous concrete with a suitable sub-base beneath it, all laid with correct falls for drainage, even though the surface itself is permeable.
Resurfacing Existing Patio With Resin
Older concrete patios that are structurally sound but looking tired often make excellent candidates for a resin overlay. We prepare the existing surface thoroughly by cleaning it, repairing any cracks and applying a primer, so the resin bonds properly and lasts.
As well as offering outstanding value for resin surfacing, we also provide alternatives such as porcelain tiled patio installations, sandstone patios and more.
